The IAU has resolved that Pluto is not a planet. I was kinda hoping that they'd keep Pluto and promote Ceres, Charon, and Xena/Daes/2003 UB313. The new definition makes a lot of sense but I get the feeling that the requirement that a planet must have 'cleared the neighborhood around its orbit' was put in just to get rid of Pluto.
